The Black Boy Joy Club was created for Black LGBTQI+ persons in the UK.
"It is important that we talk to each other and to the communities we belong. So, we created this space for us to reflect, share joy, support and just be. A space for WE to hear and be heard. Our work primarily benefits Black LGBTQI+ Londoners. The specific intersection of being both Black and LGBTQI+ means people experience both the prejudices and invalidation that are experienced by the broader Black community and the broader LGBTQI+ community. Working with national and local partners from the Black LGBTQI+ voluntary, statutory, and social enterprise sectors; we create, invest, and develop accessible safe spaces for Black LGBTQI+ persons through interventions around themes of mental health and wellbeing, sexual health awareness, cultural social events and also diet and nutrition."
