Turn End Trust

Turn End Trust

Turn End is celebrated architect Peter Aldington’s family home. The house is listed Grade II* as “an exceptional and influential example of romantic vernacular modernism, showing how a local tradition could inspire thoroughly modern village housing”. The Grade II garden expresses “the architect's belief that architecture and landscape design are an indivisible whole… exemplary as a model of later C20 intervention in a historic environment”. It is the only English post-war listed house and garden created by the same hand. Turn End has been widely published, studied and visited since its inception. The Trust’s objectives are to promote the integration of building and garden design; enable public access to this and other examples; and, after bequest by the Aldingtons, conserve and maintain Turn End estate.

"Turn End Trust was established to secure the integrity of the estate, ensure ongoing access and advocate the public benefits of Turn End’s legacy and ethos."
